‘Scream Queens’ Season 2 Promo Channels Hannibal and ‘Halloween II’

With Jamie Lee Curtis as one of its lead actresses, FOX’s hit horror comedy series Scream Queens will forever draw a some inevitable comparisons to the Halloween franchise in which Curtis did battle against Michael Myers over the course of four films, and with Season 2 of the show relocating to a hospital setting, it sounds like a big nod to Halloween II, while the most recent promo video references another horror icon.

In the new trailer, the Chanels (Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, and Abigail Breslin) are wheeled around the hospital until two of them end up making out with new cast members John Stamos and Taylor Lautner, while Roberts’ main mean girl is taken down a special hallway by Keke Palmer, where she finds Curtis and co-star (and Season 1 psycho) Lea Michele …wearing a Hannibal Lecter face mask from Silence of the Lambs!

If the Hannibal mask and the Haddonfield Memorial-esque hospital setting don’t pay enough homage to classic horror, there’s also the new character posters released this week, in which Michele’s “Hester” is wearing a dark blue jumpsuit that is quite similar to the one worn by Michael Myers as he chased down Curtis’s Laurie Strode in the Halloween movies.

Curtis previously gave horror fans a huge “head tilt” tribute to Michael Myers during the opening moments of Episode 2 of the first season.

Scream Queens Season 2 premieres on FOX on Tuesday, September 20.
