Halloween Film Festival Last Call for 2018 Submissions Announced

The 3rd Annual Halloween International Film Festival, presented by OBX Entertainment and Halloween Daily News, returns to Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina during HalloWeek on the Outer Banks, October 25-27, 2018, and film submissions are being accepted until the end of July..

Independent film submissions are currently being accepted for consideration to be included in this year’s film festival through FilmFreeway in either the short film or feature film categories.

The final deadline is Tuesday, July 31.

All Festival film screenings will once again be shown at R/C Theatres Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills, including Q&A sessions, nightly meet and greets, photo ops on our Orange Carpet, and more events to be announced. Our state-of-the-art host venue features a massive 36-foot tall movie screen, stadium seating, full digital projection capabilities, and a complete lineup of refreshments and snacks available.

Discounted oceanfront rooms are available at the official host hotel, the Sea Ranch Resort in Kill Devil Hills, when you mention the Halloween Film Festival or use the code “HIFF” online when making reservations. (Click here for details.)

The Halloween Film Festival will be followed by our 5th Annual Outer Banks Halloween Parade, the largest Halloween celebration in Dare County, on Sunday, Oct. 28. The new location of the parade will be announced in the coming weeks.

The goal of the festival is to build the film industry on the Outer Banks, inspiring the attending filmmakers to bring future productions to the area while giving locally-based talents exposure to a wider, like-minded audience, all while celebrating a collective passion for Halloween. It is a networking event for industry professionals, and a fan experience unlike any other in the region.

Known as the “land of beginnings”, the Outer Banks of North Carolina is the site of America’s first urban legend, The Lost Colony of Roanoke Island, the true story of the first English colonists to land in the new world only to mysteriously vanish without explanation in 1587. The Outer Banks is also where the infamous pirate Blackbeard was killed; and it is where the Wright Brothers achieved with the first powered flight in 1903, in what is now the town of Kill Devil Hills.
