‘Halloween 3D’ Moving Forward; Scout Taylor Compton Back as Laurie Strode?

It’s been a wild week for fans eagerly awaiting Michael Myers’ next return to the big screen, with word coming out of the Cannes Film Festival (via Bloody-Disgusting) that the Weinsteins are once again looking to get the next film in the franchise, Halloween 3D, back on on track!

Some official confirmation came a day later from the Halloween movies website, which states, “We can confirm that a new installment of Halloween is indeed on track and moving forward. We are currently developing a script, to finally bring Michael back to the theaters!”

Finally, as rumors begin to circulate as to what direction the new film will take, we have our first hint thanks to a tweet from Scout Taylor Compton, who played Laurie Strode in Rob Zombie’s 2007 Halloween remake and its 2009 sequel, claiming that she is ready to return to the role for the new film.
