‘Blade Runner 2049’ Trailer Goes Back To The Future
Our first look at the long-awaited sequel to director Ridley Scott’s 1982 sci-fi masterpiece has arrived online with the official “announcement trailer” for Blade Runner 2049, featuring the return of Harrison Ford’s Rick Deckard.
Adapted from Philip K. Dick’s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, the original film centers on Rick Deckard, a “blade runner” who hunts down rogue replicants (human-seeming androids).
This sequel, directed by Denis Villeneuve (Arrival) with Scott as executive producer, comes 35 years after the world was introduced to what would become one of the most influential “world building” movies ever made.
The official synopsis: Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
The film also stars Ana de Armas, Robin Wright, Jared Leto, Barkhad Abdi, Lennie James, Mackenzie Davis, and Sylvia Hoeks.
Blade Runner 2049 resumes the hunt for replicants in theaters on October 6, 2017.
