Jason’s Mask Maker for ‘Friday the 13th Part 13’ Confirmed

It is a great time to be a Friday the 13th fan, with lots of exciting news surfacing in the last few days regarding the upcoming 13th film in the franchise – currently being called Friday the 13th Part 13 – with filming dates and a casting call released, and now we have word on exactly who is going to design the iconic hockey mask to be worn by Jason Voorhees in the movie.

Our friends over at Friday the 13th Franchise say that their sources close to the production have confirmed that Legacy Effects has been hired to create the hockey masks and props for the new film, and they may also be handling the special effects. According to the report, Legacy has been tasked with creating a hockey mask that most closely resembles the original design from its first appearance in Friday the 13th Part 3.

Legacy has numerous projects to their credit, including Captain America: Civil War, Suicide Squad, X-Men: Apocalypse, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Filming is scheduled begin on March 29 in Conyers, Georgia, with shooting to continue through May 4, produced by Platinum Dunes.

An open casting call went out on Saturday looking for twin 12-year-old boys to portray young Jason.

Per Project Casting, producers are looking for: [YOUNG JASON] – Male, Caucasian, 12 years old ONLY SEEKING IDENTICAL TWINS W/ TV AND FILM CREDITS. MUST BE UNDER 5 FOOT. NO EXCEPTIONS. Lengthy and awkward. A dark, ominous child, who has severe psychological issues. Must have a very electric and expressive face (you will be painting the scene with your facial expressions), as this role does not speak. YOUNG JASON will grow into the pyscho-killer JASON. SUPPORTING ROLE. MUST BE ATLANTA BASED. (Click here for further details if your’re interested.)

Breck Eisner (The Crazies remake, The Last Witch Hunter) is directing, with a script written by Aaron Guzikowski (Prisoners).

Friday the 13th Part 13 is currently set slash its way into theaters on Friday, October 13th of this year.
