Eli Roth Producing ‘Haunt’ Halloween Horror Film

A new Halloween movie is on the way, as news broke this week that Eli Roth (Cabin Fever, Hostel) is producing Haunt, a horror film set on our favorite night of year at an extreme scare attraction.

Deadline reports that Sierra/Affinity is set to finance and produce Haunt, a thriller written and to be directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, the duo who wrote Paramount’s A Quiet Place, which stars John Krasinski and Emily Blunt and marks Krasinski’s major studio directorial debut.

The official synopsis: On Halloween, a group of friends encounter an “extreme” haunted house that promises to feed on their darkest fears. The night turns deadly as they come to the horrifying realization that some nightmares are real.

This sounds quite similar to 2014’s The Houses October Built, but we can’t help but be excited for a high profile horror film set at an extreme Halloween haunt.

The haunt industry is having quite a moment right now, with two documentaries, Haunters and Foolish Mortals, in the final stages of completion, to be released soon, as well as the hilarious comedy The Haunt. And there’s also Hellfest, which takes place at a horror theme park and is presumably still in pre-production, though we have heard nothing about it since it was first announced to be directed by Jennifer Lynch in 2016.

A Quiet Place, from Paramount and Platinum Dunes, is a supernatural horror film, opening on April 6, 2018.

Sierra/Affinity’s next release is Focus Features’ awesome looking action thriller Atomic Blonde, starring Charlize Theron, which hits theaters on July 28.

Production on Haunt is expected to start this fall.
