Watch John Carpenter’s New ‘Christine’ Music Video

Following two awesome Lost Themes solo albums and the release of newly re-recorded versions of some of his classic movie themes last year, John Carpenter is now releasing those tracks along with even more from the director’s epic filmography in a new greatest hits album, Anthology: Movie Themes 1974-1998, arriving this October, and today he released the official music video he directed for Christine‘s theme.

With this being the year of Stephen King, the timing of this classic theme from Carpenter’s 1983 adaptation of King’s Christine couldn’t be better. Featuring Carpenter himself, along with actress Rita Volk, the video’s real star is collector Bill Gibson’s identical recreation of the blood red 1958 Plymouth Fury from the film, as we find Christine back in action, taking a spin around town.

Expanding on his Classic Themes Redux EP released last summer, which featured the iconic themes from Assault on Precinct 13, The Fog, Halloween, and Escape From New York re-recorded by Carpenter’s current band, this landmark compilation adds themes from Dark Star, Christine, Big Trouble in Little China, Prince of Darkness, They Live, Starman, In the Mouth of Madness, Vampires, and a perfectly fitting cover of Ennio Marricone’s The Thing theme.

Anthology: Movie Themes 1974-1998 collects 13 classic themes from Carpenter’s illustrious career together on one volume for the first time. Each theme has been newly recorded with the same collaborators that Carpenter worked with on his hit Lost Themes studio albums: his son, Cody Carpenter, and godson, Daniel Davies.

The Anthology album will be released on October 20 from Sacred Bones Records.

Carpenter and his band is also hitting the road for a fall tour in support of Anthology. You can see the full list of tour dates here, and you can pre-order the album here.
