‘3 Dead Trick or Treaters’ Rising at 2017 Halloween International Film Festival
The 2nd Annual Halloween International Film Festival returns to Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina this October 26-28, featuring more than 40 independent films from around the world, and the experimental horror anthology 3 Dead Trick or Treaters is sure to be among this year’s highlights in the feature film section.
From Canadian writer/director Torin Langen, 3 Dead Trick or Treaters features a ton of Halloween atmosphere but no dialogue at all. It is in many ways a throwback to the silent film era, a ballsy trip into darkness that only gets darker as it goes on, demanding the uninterrupted attention of its audience. It is simply impossible to “live tweet” this film, because you literally need to be watching each frame to get all there is to get out of it. And there’s a lot of goodies to discover in this bag of treats.
All of the 2017 Halloween International Film Festival screenings will once again be shown at RC Theatres in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, just down the street from where the Wright brothers flew the first powered airplane in 1903, from Thursday, Oct. 26 through Saturday, Oct. 28, followed by the 4th Annual Outer Banks Halloween Parade on Sunday, Oct. 29.
3 Dead Trick or Treaters will be the final 2017 Official Selection to play the festival, with screening scheduled for Saturday night, Oct 28, just before a special Showcase screening of The Houses October Built 2.
The official synopsis: After stumbling upon the graves of three murdered trick or treaters, a small town paperboy discovers a series of handwritten horror stories tacked to the children’s headstones. Penned by a deranged pulp author driven mad by his craft, the stories chronicle grisly tales of Halloween rites, rituals, and traditions. Absent of dialogue and heavy on atmosphere, 3 Dead Trick or Treaters is a horror chiller unlike any you’ve seen before.
