Nick Castle Playing Michael Myers Again in ‘Halloween’ 2018!

Well this is quite unexpected, but we have breaking news right now that Nick Castle, the actor/writer/director credited as playing The Shape in the original Halloween will resume the iconic role of Michael Myers again in the new Halloween movie, executive produced by John Carpenter and arriving in theaters in 2018.

Bloody-Disgusting reports that they have confirmation that Castle will once again play Michael Myers in the new film, but adds that stunt performer and actor James Jude Courtney has also been cast to play Myers.

Castle of course played “The Shape” in Carpenter’s 1978 original film. He was the man behind the mask in most of the scenes, though production designer Tommy Lee Wallace (in scenes where Myers is breaking anything), actor Tony Moran (in the unmasking scene), and stuntman Jim Windburn (the fall off the balcony) also helped bring the adult version of the character to life.

Nick Castle, who turned 70 in September, has also directed numerous films, including The Last Starfighter , The Boy Who Could Fly, Tap, Major Payne, and Dennis the Menace, and he is the co-writer of Escape From New York, Hook, and August Rush, among others.

Academy Award-winning makeup artist Christopher Nelson has also joined the project, which we noticed on the film’s IMDb page a few days ago and has apparently been confirmed now by BD. Nelson won an Oscar for his work in last year’s Suicide Squad, and his long list of previous credits also includes Deadpool, Sin City, Kill Bill Vol. 1 and 2, American Horror Story, next year’s Avengers: Infinity War, and much more.

Andi Matichak will play Allyson, Laurie Strode’s granddaughter in the new film, with Judy Greer set to play Laurie’s daughter Karen Strode, and of course Jamie Lee Curtis returning to once again reprise her role as Laurie Strode.

Filming will begin in mid-January in Charleston, South Carolina, where Blumhouse has already set up production offices.

Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.

Master of horror John Carpenter will executive produce and serve as creative consultant on this film, joining forces with cinema’s current leading producer of horror, Jason Blum (Get Out, Split, The Purge, Paranormal Activity). Inspired by Carpenter’s classic, filmmakers David Gordon Green and Danny McBride crafted a story that carves a new path from the events in the landmark 1978 film, and Green also directs.

Halloween will be produced by Malek Akkad, whose Trancas International Films has produced the Halloween series since its inception. Green and McBride will executive produce under their Rough House Pictures banner.

Halloween will be distributed worldwide by Universal Pictures.

As I’m sure you are well aware, 2018 marks the 40th anniversary of the release of John Carpenter’s original 1978 Halloween. It is also worth noting that the film’s release date happens to be Michael Myers’ birthday (in 1957), according to the original franchise canon. Myers would be 61 on Halloween night in 2018.

The new Halloween arrives in theaters on October 19, 2018.
