Eclectic Goods Makes Fan Art for Your Feet [Video / Photo Gallery]

The biggest event of its kind in the region, Tidewater Comicon returned to Virginia Beach May 12-13, bringing with it many of the iconic creators, writers, and artists of your favorite comic book heroes and villains, along with actors from various genre films and TV shows, amazing cosplay, and uniquely talented vendors, including Eclectic Goods.

Tidewater Comicon 2018 took over the Virginia Beach Convention Center in Virginia Beach, VA for two days on Saturday and Sunday, May 12-13, and Halloween Daily News was on the scene again this year to bring you full coverage, including photos, videos, and interviews.

The husband-wife team of Jack and Nicole of Eclectic Goods, from Pennsylvania, PA, were among the many vendors at Tidewater Comicon this year, showing off their handpainted shoes featuring your favorite horror icons.

“Everything we do is handpainted,” explained Jack. “Horror is probably our bread and butter. We do a lot of game and entertainment stuff too, but horror is probably our biggest thing. We’ve got about six or seven different Pennywise shoes. We’ve done Jason, Freddy, Michael Myers. Of all the things we’ve done, yes, horror is definitely our thing.”

Added Nicole, “We are very much horror fans, so we are very excited every time we get a new horror order, especially for Pennywise the clown. He’s one of our absolute favorites.”

The shoes they had on display in Virginia Beach featured colorful images from Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, It, Batman, Wonder Woman, and The Walking Dead, among others, as well as horror-themed earrings, necklaces, and other accessories featuring Halloween‘s Michael Myers, Jack and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas, and many more.

“It started because my husband told me ‘no’,” says Nicole. “I saw a pair on Etsy that were zombie shoes that I absolutely loved, and he told me I couldn’t have them. So I said, ‘Fine, I will make them myself.’ And here we are five years later, making these incredible shoes.”

Diving into their process for creating the shoes, Jack said, “A lot of times it will start with a quick sketch. Someone will give us a picture and we’ll put it next to the shoe and say, ‘Okay, this is what we can do.’ We’ll do a quick sketch, and then just kind of fill it out from there, add more to what’s left of the shoe, fill the negative space.”
