Freeform Announces 31 Nights of Halloween 2019 Expansion
Freeform has announced plans to expand its schedule of seasonal programming block for this year’s 31 Nights of Halloween, already set to include a new special and the notable additions of Ghostbusters and Scream in 2019.
Deadline reports: “Following last year’s Hocus Pocus 25th Anniversary Halloween Bash, Freeform will continue the party with a new original special, Halloween Extravaganza Bash (working title) — a celebration of Halloween’s biggest pop culture moments. The special will honor movies, TV shows, and music artists who’ve become synonymous with Halloween.”
Celebrating is 35th anniversary in 2019, Ghostbusters and its sequel Ghostbusters 2 will be shown, as well as the Scream trilogy for the first time on Freeform this year, along with the expected standards including The Nightmare Before Christmas and The Addams Family.
And the network (formerly ABC Family) will show Disney’s own Hocus Pocus for a record 27 broadcasts during the month of October.
This year’s expansion of Halloween-friendly content comes after last year’s inaugural 31 Nights of Halloween (previously “13 Nights of Halloween”) delivered the channel’s most-watched October in three years.
