Tidewater Comicon Returns to Virginia Beach

The annual Tidewater Comicon returns to Virginia Beach this weekend, May 18-19, bringing with it many of the iconic creators, writers, and artists of your favorite comic book heroes and villains, along with the star of Black Lightning, wrestling legend Mick Foley, and what can only be described as some of the best cosplay on the east coast.

Special guests this year include Nafessa Williams of the hit CW series Black Lightning, Dante Basco (Hook, Sightings), Johnny Yong Bosch (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), New Mutants co-creator Bob McLeod, voice actors Larry Kenney (Thundercats, Count Chocula) and Samantha Newark (Jem), Sesame Street legends Caroll Spiney (Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch) and Steve Whitmire (Kermit the Frog, Ernie), pro wrestling icons Mick Foley and Lisa Marie Varon, current Amazing Spider-Man artist Ryan Ottley, Metalshark Bro creators Bob Frantz and Kevin Cuffe, as well as dozens of vendors selling collectibles, costumes, and of course comic books.

The Batmobile and the Ghostbusters’ Ecto-1 will also be on display at the event as part of the Lawyers Garage Supercars.

The annual cosplay contest will take place on Sunday, with pre-judging from 1:30 to 3:30 at the Dave & Busters table, followed by the finals on stage at 4:30 p.m.

Tidewater Comicon 2019 is happening once again at the Virginia Beach Convention Center in Virginia Beach, VA on Saturday and Sunday, May 18-19. Tickets are available here.
