Michael Myers Featured in New ‘Scream: Resurrection’ Clip

After the first official clip from VH1’s upcoming Scream: Resurrection has been released online, featuring Ghostface trick or treating and thus confirming a Halloween night setting, the second clip released earlier today has a direct reference to Michael Myers himself!

In the clip, which you can watch below, Keke Palmer’s character, Kym, is watching Rob Zombie’s 2007 Halloween on TV when the phone rings with a familiar voice on the line. The scene Kym is watching has Tyler Mane’s Myers attacking Lynda, as played by Kristina Klebe.

While the entire Scream franchise, including all four Wes Craven-directed films and the MTV series, has often referenced Michael Myers and the Halloween movie franchise, as well as pretty much every major horror franchise, over the years, this most recent reboot looks to like it will be using Zombie’s Halloween remake in a similar way to how the original Scream used Carpenter’s original 1978 Halloween.

This first clip,  which was released online yesterday, stars Paris Jackson and is a clear homage to Drew Barrymore’s iconic opening scene from Wes Craven’s original Scream film in 1996, only this time it takes place on Halloween night, with Jackson’s Becky dressed in a Florence Nightingale costume when she gets a phone call with that familiar voice, once again provided by Roger Jackson. It also confirms what we suspected from the teaser trailer, that at least some of the action in Resurrection takes place on and around Halloween itself.

Originally announced as a reboot of the MTV series back in 2017, the Scream television franchise has announced a move over to VH1, premiering this summer with a three-night event that will feature the return of the iconic Ghostface mask from the Scream films, as well as Roger Jackson reprising his role from the movies as the voice of the killer.

The retooled six-episode third season, Scream: Resurrection, will debut on Monday, July 8, and will run for two hours per night, starting at 9pm, through Wednesday, July 10.

The all new cast includes Mary J. Blige, Keke Palmer, Tyler Posey, R.J. Cyler, Tyga, Giorgia Whigham, Jessica Sula, C.J. Wallace, Giullian Yao Gioiello, and guest star Paris Jackson, as well as a new premise and location.

Also new in season three is the iconic Ghostface mask, which MTV’s Scream had previously been unable to use. Roger Jackson, who voiced the killer in the Scream film franchise, will reprise the role for the VH1 version, marking the first time the original Ghostface mask will be used on television.

Season three, subtitled Resurrection, centers on Deion Elliot (Cyler), a local star football running back, whose tragic past comes back to haunt him and threaten his hard-earned plans for the future — and the lives of his unlikely group of friends.

You can watch the both clips from Scream: Resurrection below.
