Scares That Care Charity Weekend Returns to Williamsburg, VA
The 6th Annual Scares That Care Charity Weekend returns to Williamsburg, Virginia this August for three days of horror fun, all to benefit a truly great cause.
Scares That Care is an all volunteer charity, where net proceeds from all organization events are provided to the recipients selected. Founded in 2006, “Scares That Care!” to date has raised and donated over $250,000 to organizations that treat sick children and families with a child affected by illness, burns, or women fighting breast cancer.
Celebrity guests that will be at the 2019 Scares That Care Weekend include Keith David (The Thing, They Live), Wilford Brimley (The Thing), Sid Haig (House of 1,000 Corpses, The Devil’s Rejects, 3 From Hell, Halloween 2007), Kane Hodder (Friday the 13th VII-X, Hatchet), Crystal Lowe (Final Destination 3, Wrong Turn 2, Black Christmas 2006), Jenette Goldstein (Aliens, Terminator 2), Sarah Butler (I Spit on Your Grave), composer Henry Manfredini (Friday the 13th), and Lia Bedlam, who played the woman in the bathtub in Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining, making her first ever convention appearance.
We are also excited to meet young Jibrail Nantambu, who played fan favorite Julian in Blumhouse’s Halloween 2018.
Horror host icon Joe Bob Briggs (The Last Drive In) will be there all weekend, as well as his Last Drive In co-host Darcy the Mail Girl (aka Diana Prince).
There will also be a a massive reunion of many of the cast members from the 1987 classic The Monster Squad, featuring the men behind the film’s monsters themselves, Duncan Regehr (Dracula), Michael Reid Mackay (The Mummy), Carl Thibault (The Wolfman), and the great Tom Noonan (Manhunter, The House of the Devil), who played Frankenstein’s creature, along with the most recent addition, Ashely Bank, who played Phoebe.
Joining David and Brimley from John Carpenter’s The Thing, Thomas Waites (The Warriors) and Joe Polis (Star Trek: Voyager) are coming to Williamsburg, as well.
Additional guest that will be meeting fans at the event include Clayton Rohner (April Fool’s Day), Pruitt Taylor Vince (Bird Box, Identity), Malcolm Goodwin (iZombie), Mark Rolston (Aliens), Kristi Angus (Jason X), and Count Gore De Vol.
There will also be numerous authors and tons of talented vendors, as well as the annual costume contest on Saturday night and the special event How Rednecks Saved Hollywood: An Evening with Joe Bob Briggs on Friday night. The party even kicks off with a screening of Carpenter’s The Thing at the hotel pool on Thursday night.
