‘Halloween Kills’ Filming Begins This Week

Blumhouse’s upcoming sequel Halloween Kills will begin filming this week in Wilmington, North Carolina.

While we had originally heard that shooting would start this coming Monday (Sept. 16), cameras are in fact scheduled to roll on the first scene to be filmed this Thursday, Sept. 12, according to a film permit application released by the city, which includes details that crews will be shooting “news reporter dialogue” at the corner of Carolina and Wrightsville avenues from 4:00 to 11:00 p.m., as reported by WECT.

The growing cast includes Kyle Richards (read our interview here) reprising her 1978 role as Lindsey Wallace, and Anthony Michael Hall, who will take over the role of Tommy Doyle from Brian Andrews, as well as Robert Longstreet as Lonnie Elam, Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, and (presumably, though not official yet) Judy Greer and Andi Matichak, reprising their roles as Laurie’s daughter and ganddaughter, respectively.

Halloween Kills is filming under the working production title “Mob Rules”, which is somewhat fitting considering that is also the title of Black Sabbath’s second album with their second lead singer, Ronnie James Dio.

Halloween Kills is set for theatrical release on October 16, 2020.

David Gordon Green returns to direct from a script he co-wrote with Danny McBride and Scott Teems.

Halloween Ends, intended as the finale of this saga, will be released on October 15, 2021. Green will direct as well, from a script he co-wrote with McBride and writers new to the series, Paul Brad Logan, and Chris Bernier.

Based on characters created by series originator John Carpenter and Debra Hill, Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends will be produced by Malek Akkad, Jason Blum, and Bill Block. Green, McBride, Carpenter, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jeanette Volturno, Couper Samuelson, and Ryan Freimann will serve as executive producers, with Ryan Turek overseeing both projects for Blumhouse.
