‘Halloween Kills’ Test Screening This Week in L.A.

We are a little less than nine months away from Michael Myers’ return to the big screen, but just days away from the first test screening for Bumhouse’s upcoming sequel Halloween Kills, which is happening this week.

HDN has confirmed that a test screening of the highly anticipated followup to Halloween (2018) will take place this Thursday evening, Jan. 30, in Los Angeles. You may remember that the previous installment in the franchise was also test screened in early 2018, which resulted in various reshoots, including a new ending being filmed. We’ll let you know when hear how this week’s screening goes.

In related news, many fans are anxiously speculating on when the first trailer for Halloween Kills may be released. While many are hoping Universal drops something during this Sunday’s Super Bowl broadcast, I think it’s far more likely the studio would use that opportunity to preview February’s The Invisible Man or this June’s Candyman reboot. I’d say our first official look at HK will probably instead be released in conjunction with either of those films, the most likely of which being Candyman since it’s June 12 opening lines up almost exactly with when the first trailer for the previous Halloween movie was unveiled on June 7, 2018. But anything is possible at this point, so we’ll have to wait and see.

In addition to Jamie Lee Curtis reprising her iconic role as Laurie Strode, the cast includes Kyle Richards (read our interview here) reprising her 1978 role as Lindsey Wallace, Nancy Stephens reprising her 1978 role as Nurse Marion, Charles Cyphers rerpising his 1978 role as Leigh Brackett, and Anthony Michael Hall, who will take over the role of Tommy Doyle from Brian Andrews, as well as Robert Longstreet as Lonnie Elam, and James Jude Courtney and Nick Castle continuing their collaboration as Michael Myers.

 Also back from Halloween 2018 are Andi Matichak as Allyson, Judy Greer as Karen, and Dylan Arnold as Cameron Elam, along with newcomer Victoria Paige Watkins as Christy.

Directed by David Gordon Green from a script he co-wrote with Danny McBride and Scott Teems, Halloween Kills was filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Michael Myers returns when Halloween Kills arrives in theaters on October 16, 2020.

Halloween Ends, intended as the finale of this saga, will be released on October 15, 2021, with Green directing from a script he co-wrote with McBride, Paul Brad Logan, and Chris Bernier.
