Watch as Tommy Lee Wallace Recreates Michael Myers’ Original ‘Halloween’ Mask

Franchise fans and mask fanatics have long wondered and debated exactly how Tommy Lee Wallace transformed what was originally a Don Post Star Trek Captain Kirk mask into what would be the iconic mask of The Shape in John Carpenter’s 1978 Halloween, and now, thanks to our friend Sean Clark, we can watch each step as Wallace recreates the classic Michael Myers mask from a faithful Kirk reproduction.

Sean Clark, host of Horror’s Hallowed Grounds and owner of Convention All Stars, uploaded the fascinating video to his YouTube channel, explaining in the description that it was originally filmed in 2014 to be one of the bonus features in the Halloween: The Complete Collection Blu-ray box set but was ultimately not included in that release.

So now, for the first and only time, we can all watch as Halloween editor/production designer Tommy Lee Wallace, who also portrayed Michael Myers in a number of scenes, shows Clark the steps he took to transform the Kirk mask into The Shape mask. And the finished product is indeed a thing of beauty.
