Malek Akkad Comments on ‘Halloween Kills’ Delay to 2021

Halloween franchise producer Malek Akkad, son of the “Godfather of Halloween,” the late Moustapha Akkad, has issued his own comments regarding the announcement to delay the release of the upcoming sequel Halloween Kills until October of 2021.

Speaking to HalloweenMovies about the one year push, Malek Akkad says, “Moving the release date of Halloween Kills was such a tough decision. The entire cast and crew have been so excited to share it with the world. But, we all believe it’s the right thing to do, as we want the film to be seen in the best format possible. I know that this will be disappointing for Halloween fans. We’ve always cherished their support and love for the franchise. We hope they’ll agree that given the current circumstances, it’s the best decision, and that the film will be well worth the wait.”

In addition to Jamie Lee Curtis reprising her iconic role as Laurie Strode, the cast includes Kyle Richards (read our interview here) reprising her 1978 role as Lindsey Wallace, Nancy Stephens reprising her 1978 role as Nurse Marion, Charles Cyphers reprising his 1978 role as Leigh Brackett, and Anthony Michael Hall, who will take over the role of Tommy Doyle from Brian Andrews, as well as Robert Longstreet as Lonnie Elam, and James Jude Courtney and Nick Castle continuing their collaboration as Michael Myers.

Also back from Halloween 2018 are Andi Matichak as Allyson, Judy Greer as Karen, and Dylan Arnold as Cameron Elam.

Directed by David Gordon Green from a script he co-wrote with Danny McBride and Scott Teems, Halloween Kills was filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina. John Carpenter returns as an executive producer and has performed the music for the film with his band mates Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies.

Michael Myers will now return when Halloween Kills arrives in theaters on October 15, 2021.
