‘Batman: The Long Halloween Part Two’ Trailer Released

Batman: The Long Halloween Part One and Part Two, the animated feature film adaptations of the classic mid-1990s comic book story, are coming this year, and with the release of Part One just about a month away, the official trailer for Part Two has just been unleashed online.

The official trailer for Part Two exhibits a darker, more violent tone, as the ongoing killings by the Holiday Killer are clearly weighing heavily on both Batman and Commissioner James Gordon. Early in the trailer, Gotham City crime boss Carmine Falcone says, “You know what my people call this past year? The long Halloween.” We also have a new official synopsis for Part Two, which you can read below.

Jensen Ackles (Supernatural, My Bloody Valentine 2009) leads the cast as Batman/Bruce Wayne, along with Naya Rivera, the late Glee star who died in July of 2020 after already completing her voice work as Catwoman/Selina Kyle.

The voice cast also includes Josh Duhamel as Harvey Dent, Billy Burke as James Gordon, Titus Welliver as Carmine Falcone, David Dastmalchian (The Suicide Squad) as Calendar Man, Troy Baker as Joker, Amy Landecker as Barbara Gordon, Julie Nathanson as Gilda Dent, Jack Quaid (Scream) as Alberto, Fred Tatasciore as Solomon Grundy, and Alastair Duncan as Alfred. Katee Sackhoff (Halloween: Resurrection, The Mandalorian) also joins the cast for Part Two, voicing Poison Ivy.

The films are directed by Chris Palmer (Superman: Man of Tomorrow) from a script that reteams him with Man of Tomorrow screenwriter Tim Sheridan.

The official synopsis for Part Two: Inspired by the iconic mid-1990s DC story from Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale, Batman: The Long Halloween Part Two continues as the Holiday Killer is still at large and, with Bruce Wayne under the spell of the venomous Poison Ivy, Batman is nowhere to be found. Liberated by an unlikely ally, Bruce quickly uncovers the real culprit: Poison Ivy’s employer Carmine Falcone. The Roman, his ranks decimated by Holiday and his business spinning out of control, has been forced to bring on less desirable partners – Gotham City’s rogues’ gallery. In the meantime, Harvey Dent is confronting battles on two fronts: attempting to end the mob war while also dealing with a strained marriage. And, after an attack that leaves Harvey hideously disfigured, the District Attorney unleashes the duality of his psyche that he’s strived his entire life to suppress. Now, as Two-Face, Dent decides to take the law into his own hands and deliver judgment to those who’ve wronged him, his family and all of Gotham. Ultimately, the Dark Knight must put together the tragic pieces that converged to create Two-Face, the Holiday Killer, Batman and Gotham City itself.

The Motion Picture Association has rated Batman: The Long Halloween Part Two R for “some violence and bloody images.”

Originally published in 1996-1997, the original 13-issue comic book story The Long Halloween, by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale, follows a killer named Holiday who murders people on every holiday for a year, from Halloween to the next Halloween, and it also features many of Batman’s iconic villains as he investigates the murders over the course of a year.

There has also been much speculation that director Matt Reeves’ live action The Batman will be a loose adaptation of The Long Halloween, which you can read more about here.

The Long Halloween Part One will be released on Blu-ray and Digital on June 22, from Warner Bros Animation, DC, and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, available for pre-order via Amazon here.

The Long Halloween Part Two will follow at a date to be announced in the fall.

The Long Halloween Part One will also be available on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack at a later date in 2022 as a combined presentation of the film with Batman: The Long Halloween Part Two.
