Marlon Wayans Halloween Comedy Coming to Netflix

Marlon Wayans (Scary Movie, A Haunted House) is set to produce and star in a new Halloween movie for Netflix.

The currently untitled Halloween film is an adventure-comedy that will be directed by Jeff Wadlow, who recently helmed Blumhouse’s Truth or Dare and Fantasy Island, with Rob Rugan, Todd Berger, and John R. Morey writing the script, as first reported by Deadline.

In addition to starring in the film, Marlon Wayans will serve as a producer, along with Rick Alvarez for Ugly Baby Productions, and Nathan Reimann. Wadlow will serve as executive producer.

The synopsis follows a teenage girl, who, after accidentally unleashing an ancient and mischievous spirit on Halloween, which causes decorations to come alive and wreak havoc, must team up with the last person she’d want to in order to save their town – her skeptical father (played by Wayans).

You can bet that Netflix is hoping for Hubie Halloween levels of success with this new comedy, as that Adam Sadler Halloween movie turned out to be the most popular film of 2020 on the streaming network in the U.S.

The untitled new Marlon Wayans Halloween film is expected to premiere in October 2022 on Netflix.

We will be covering this project closely as it develops. Look for more casting news soon.
