‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Trailer is Decorated for Halloween
While we are expecting DC’s upcoming feature film The Batman to take place at least partly on or around Halloween, it looks like Sony’s upcoming Marvel sequel Spider-Man: No Way Home will also spend some time around the holiday, as evidenced in the new official trailer!
At one point in the three-minute trailer, a couple of black cat Halloween decorations can be seen hanging on a wall behind Peter Parker (played by Tom Holland), which also serves as a reference to the Marvel Spider-Man comics character Black Cat.
Then we see Parker apparently looking at Halloween-esque string lights featuring light up heads of a wizard (or sorcerer Doctor Strange) with a banner clearly reading “Halloween,” a dark wreath, and a bat hanging in the background.
There’s even what appears to be one of the Green Goblin’s pumpkin bombs.
Other scenes in the trailer suggest that a new school year has begun, and there is some serious fall foliage in the trees, all of which makes sense for a Halloween time setting, especially considering that 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming took place at the start of a school year and its 2019 follow-up Spider-Man: Far From Home took place during the summer, most likely placing this film right back around autumn. .
Spider-Man: No Way Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, J.K. Simmons, Jacob Batalon, and Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, with Alfred Molina return from Sam Raimi’s 2004 Spider-Man 2 as Doctor Octopus. The new film is directed by Jon Watts.
If a Spider-Man Halloween movie isn’t enough to get you excited, there is also strong evidence that director Matt Reeves’ The Batman movie coming next year is also set at least partly on or around Halloween.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is scheduled to swing into theaters on December 17.
