‘Mutilator 2’ Update from Mad Monster Party Q&A Panel

A sequel to the 1984 slasher The Mutilator was recently announced to be in development from the original film’s writer and director Buddy Cooper, who was at the Mad Monster Party horror convention in February and provided and update on Mutilator 2 during a Q&A panel with two of the new film’s stars, Damian Maffei and Carl J. Grasso.

When moderator Levi Tinker asked about the current status of the sequel, Buddy Cooper said, “We have a screenplay, and we have a cast. We have the location. We have almost a complete crew, and we have a little bit of money. We are fairly far along. Without saying when or where, we’re really close to shooting now. With some luck, it’ll be on the screen in the fall.”

When Tinker asked if Cooper is aiming to release the film initially in theaters or directly to a streaming service, Cooper answered, “I would hope for theatrical.”

In addition to Maffei (The Strangers: Prey At Night, Haunt, Wrong Turn) and Grasso, the cast of Mutilator 2 also includes Terry Kiser (Friday the 13th Part VII, Weekend at Bernie’s), and The Mutilator legacy cast members Ruth Martinez and Bill Hitchcock.

You can hear more from the panel discussion in the video below.

Mad Monster Party took place Feb. 18-20 in Concord, North Carolina.
