‘Scream 6’ Directors are “Willing to Risk it All” to Subvert Expectations

With a sixth Scream movie officially announced last month from Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group, following the massive box office success of the latest Scream (2022) movie, the franchise’s current directors have indicated that they are “willing to risk it all” with the new film.

Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett recently spoke to Empire Magazine for a new interview, in which Gillett says, “This movie has to be willing to risk it all in order to subvert all of those expectations. And we’re so far down the rabbit hole of Scream movies, that it’s all up for grabs at this point.”

James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick are also back to write the script, and franchise creator Kevin Williamson is back as an executive producer.

Filming starts in June in Canada.

Courteney Cox has indicated that she will be back as Gale Weathers.

Scream 6 will arrive in theaters on March 31, 2023.
