First Look Images from ‘Spirit Halloween’ Movie, New Plot Details Revealed

Spirit Halloween is taking their brand to the big screen in a movie set inside one of the stores, coming to theaters this October, and our first look at the film’s stars, Christopher Lloyd and Rachael Leigh Cook, has been revealed today in two official images.

Variety unveiled the first official photos of Lloyd and Cook on set, which you can see below, and also provides new plot details.

Lloyd reportedly plays a wealthy land developer named Alec Windsor, who disappeared without a trace decades ago on Halloween night, and ever since his cursed spirit is said to haunt the town each year on October 31 for one hour.

Cook plays Sue, who has recently remarried after her husband passed away. When a Spirit Halloween store pops up in an abandoned strip mall, Sue’s teenage son Jake and his friends decide to spend the night there for a dare. But they get more than they bargained for when an angry spirit posses the animatronic characters inside.

In the new photos, Lloyd is dressed in an old-fashioned coat and hat, pictured leaning against a black car, while Cook is shown looking worried.

Filming has already wrapped.

As previously reported, Spirit Halloween, the seasonal costume and prop popup store with 1,425 locations across North America, has teamed with Strike Back Studios, Hideout Pictures, and Particular Crowd for a feature-length family movie called Spirit Halloween, which is being billed as a family/kids adventure film.

Back to the Future and The Addams Family legend Christopher Lloyd and She’s All That star Rachael Leigh Cook lead the cast of Spirit Halloween, along with newcomers Donavan Colan (Zoe), Dylan Frankel (Raven’s Home), Jaiden Smith (Blue Bloods), and Marissa Reyes (Raven’s Home). Marla Gibbs (The Jeffersons, 227, El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie”) also stars in the film.

This is the feature directorial debut of David Poag, from a screenplay by Billie Bates.

Here’s the official synopsis: “When a new Spirit Halloween store appears in a deserted strip mall, three middle-school friends who think they’ve outgrown trick-or-treating make a dare to spend the night locked inside the store on Halloween night. But they soon find out that the store is haunted by an angry evil spirit who has possessed the creepy animatronic characters. The kids embark on a thrilling and spooky adventure in order to survive the night and avoid becoming possessed themselves.

Producer Noor Ahmed, president of Strike Back Studios, said, “One of the reasons I immediately connected with the script is it is very much inspired by some of my favorite kid adventure films growing up from The Goonies, Gremlins, Monster Squad, and so many great films made by Amblin Entertainment.”

Spirit Halloween will be released this October.
