John Carpenter Says ‘Halloween Ends’ is a “Departure” From Previous Films

In a new interview, John Carpenter spoke briefly about Halloween Ends, teasing that the sequel will be a “departure” from previous Michael Myers films.

Speaking to Syfy Wire, Carpenter says of Halloween Ends (with a chuckle), “Well, it’s Halloween, and it ends. You’ll see it’s a departure from the others. It’s interesting. Dave is a really good director. I love working with him.”

These new comments from Carpenter come after the film’s special FX makeup artist Christopher Nelson called Halloween Ends “weird” and “different” on a new episode of The Thing With Two Heads.

Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her role as Laurie Strode, along with returning cast members Andi Matichak as Allyson, Kyle Richards as Lindsey Wallace, and James Jude Courtney as The Shape (Michael Myers).

The new film is directed by David Gordon Green, from a script he co-wrote with Chris Bernier, Paul Brad Logan, and Danny McBride.

Halloween Ends will arrive in theaters on October 14, 2022.
