‘Paper Girls’ Time Traveling Adventure Begins After Halloween 1988
It’s the day after Halloween in 1988, in Amazon Prime Video’s new retro-flavored series Paper Girls, when four young friends accidentally stumble into an intense time war and find themselves inexplicably transported to the year 2019.
In the official trailer for the show, released today, one of the four newspaper delivery girls of the title come face-to-face with their adult self.
The official synopsis says “each girl discovers her own strengths as together they try to find a way back to the past while saving the world of the future”.
Based on the comic series of the same name by writer Brian K. Vaughan (Saga) and artist Cliff Chiang (Catwoman: Lonely City), Paper Girls follows four 1980s teenagers — Mac Coyle (played by Sofia Rosinsky), Tiffany Quilkin (Camryn Jones), K.J. Brandman (Fina Strazza), and Erin Tieng (Riley Lai Nelet) — who stumble upon a time machine and find themselves launched into the future year of 2019, where they meet the adult version of Erin (Ali Wong), who is none too pleased to come face-to-face with her past self.
Paper Girls begins streaming on Amazon Prime Video on July 29.
