Rob Zombie’s ‘The Munsters’ Joins Tim Burton’s ‘Wednesday’ Addams Family Series on Netflix this Fall

Rob Zombie just announced that his new feature film reboot of The Munsters is joining Tim Burton‘s new Addams Family series Wednesday on Netflix this Halloween season, 54 years after both families debuted on TV just six days apart 1964.

Zombie announced today on Instagram that the two iconic families will be reborn together on the same streaming network.

In Rob Zombie’s film, returning legacy cast members include Butch Patrick, who of course played young Eddie Munster in the original 1964-1966 series and in the franchise’s first feature film, 1966’s Munster, Go Home, will play the character Tin Can Man in the movie. Patrick joins his Munsters show co-star Pat Priest, who played the role of Marilyn Munster in the series starting in Episode 14 and has been announced to be appearing in Zombie’s film.

Jeff Daniel Phillips plays Herman Munster, with Sheri Moon Zombie as Lily Munster and Zombie regular Daniel Roebuck as The Count (Grandpa). Sylvester McCoy plays Igor (the name of Grandpa’s pet bat in the TV series), and horror icons Cassandra Peterson (aka Elvira) and Dee Wallace have also joined the cast.

The film will also introduce new characters, including Richard Brake (31, 3 from Hell) as Dr. Henry Augustus Wolfgang, Catherine Schell (Space: 1999, The Return of the Pink Panther) as gypsy queen Zoya Krupp the gypsy queen, and Jorge Garcia (Lost) as Floop, described by Zombie as “Dr. Wolfgang’s hunchback assistant and Herman Munster’s best buddy.”

Zombie has recently revealed that legacy characters Uncle Gilbert and Zombo are also back.

Leading the cast as Wednesday Addams, Jenna Ortega stars in Tim Burton’s series, along with Catherine Zeta-Jones stepping into the iconic silhouette of Morticia Addams, while Luis Guzmán brings to life the debonair Gomez Addams in the upcoming TV series Wednesday. Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones) also stars. Christina Ricci, who memorably played the role of Wednesday Addams in two live action Addams Family movies in the 1990s, is also a series regular and will be “a major part of the live-action show” in a mystery role confirmed to be “a new character and not an older version of Wednesday.”

The Addams Family TV series premiered on ABC on Sept. 18, 1964, followed six days later by the premiere of The Munsters on CBS on Sept. 24, 1964.

The Munsters and Wednesday will premiere on Netflix this fall.
