Howl-O-Scream 2024 Haunted Houses Revealed for Busch Gardens Theme Parks

The annual Howl-O-Scream Halloween haunt event returns to Busch Gardens theme parks in Williamsburg, Virginia and Tampa, Florida next month, and the 2024 lineup of houses and scare zones have been revealed.

At Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Howl-O-Scream returns for its 25th anniversary year with two all-new houses and three “revamped” returning favorites, as well as two brand new terror-tories, in addition to four more returning favorites.

Debuting in 2024, the Doctor is in at the new Monster Manor house, where the anatomy of evil has been perfected, and the Doctor is bringing his dark arts into grotesque reality. Within his chilling laboratory, he weaves unspeakable horrors, transforming hapless victims into monstrous creations. Here, the boundaries of humanity are torn apart, and the screams of his abominations echo through the night. Dare to enter and face the horrid results of his twisted experiments?

Also debuting in 2024, the new Clown Town house is where the clowns of Busch Gardens’ Festa Italia village were cast out, having been deemed “too terrifying” for the park. Now, shunned and vengeful, these twisted jesters have forged their own dark domain – CLOWN TOWN. In their eerie enclave, they are the rulers of all, and their whims dictate who will escape… and who will remain trapped in their demented circus… for all eternity

The other three houses are “revamped” returning favorites:

  • Death Water Bayou: Morte – The call of the bayou grows darker and more insistent as devilish devotees venture deeper into the spectral swamp. What began as a lure into the murky depths has now become a chilling threshold between our world and the next. The flame of death burns ever brighter from above, and the Voodoo Queen’s desperation for her final sinister sacrifice reaches a horrifying climax.
  • Lost Mines: Bloodstone – The mining camp dug deeper into the earth in search of priceless gems.  What they found was something sinister, darker, and eldritch.  These gems are more than shiny baubles; they are the life force of an evil eternal that has been long locked away.  As the miners succumb to the horrors of the ages, will you risk entering the mine in search of survivors?
  • KILLarney DInEr: Condemned – The diner has long been boarded up and abandoned, but something is skittering behind the walls. The glory days of the ‘50s are long past, and now the terror of the ‘20s awaits all who enter this decimated domicile. Enter at your own peril, for within these decrepit walls, the echoes of past horrors are very much alive, ready to claim the unsuspecting.

The 2024 scare zone Terror-tories include the new Stalker Street, where sinister scarecrows stalk the deserted streets hunting for their next victims, and the new The Bash, where Howl-O-Scream characters from years past return to mark 25 years of Fears, as well as returning favorites Gorgon Gardens (pictured above in 2022), Fest-Evil, Scary Tale Road, and Ripper Row.

There will also be four sinister live shows this year, including the new Fiends: The Freakquel, in which Doctor Freakenstein wants to reintroduce himself to the world in the only way he knows how: a Hollywood-style blockbuster about his life with the help of his trusted sidekick Igor, the Doctor invites each of his iconic fiends, Wolfman, Drac, The Bride, and the Creature of the Black Lagoon to join his filmmaking festivities in a pop-culture centric song and dance extravaganza. The returning shows are Monster Stop on Ripper Row, Phantoms of the Festhaus, and Skeletones.

At Busch Gardens Tampa, a new haunted house joins four returning favorites, while five new terror-tories will debut.

In the new Shadows of Wonderland house, step back into Wonderland, but not as you remember it, s this warped dreamscape has come from years of torment under the Queen of Hearts’ reign of terror. Once playful characters have become bitter shadows, their anger fueled by Alice’s abandonment. Now, you must confront this distorted reality and face a vengeful Queen who wants Alice and you gone.

The four returning favorites are:

  • D.H. Baggum’s Circus of Fear – Step right up, step right up, to the most horrifying spectacle ever witnessed! D.H. Baggum’s collection of grotesque creatures will chill you to the bone. Beware, for the midway is a hunting ground. D.H. stalks the unsuspecting, snatching them away for a sinister purpose.
  • Stranglewood EstateOnce a hub of lavish parties, Stranglewood Estate now echoes with the whispers of its dark past. Madame Stranglewood, a beloved socialite with a hidden penchant for cruelty, ruled this town with an iron fist. She lured unsuspecting servants into a secret room in the basement, where she ended their lives, trapping their souls in eternal torment.
  • The Forgotten: Uprising – A blood-soaked year has passed since the hunters first confronted the slumbering vampire army. Victory remains elusive, despair hangs heavy in the air, yet hope flickers in their weary eyes. With gritted teeth and trembling hands, they prepare for the final stand.
  • Witch of the Woods: Rise of the Coven (Reimagined) – A malevolent force has awakened in the woods. The Witch of the Woods, Seraphina, fueled by vengeance and dark magic, has finally summoned her coven – Brand, the Fire Bringer, and Kael, the Storm Caller. Together, they have twisted the once-serene forest into a grotesque reflection of their power, leaving behind a trail of poisoned air, stagnant water, and withered life.

In addition to returning favorites Raven’s Mill: The Blood Harvest, Sin City Zombies, and Beyond the Veil, the new 2024 terror-tories at Tampa include:

  • Howl-O-Scream 25: Terror Through Time – Enter The Architect’s twisted gallery of horror, where the past 25 years of Howl-O-Scream nightmares come to life.

  • Little Nightmares: Trick or Treat – Years ago, on Halloween night, a group of children vanished. Every Halloween, they return, reliving their final trick-or-treat.

  • Sawgrass Slaughter: Legend of the Skunk Ape – Venture into the depths of the Everglades, where the stench of decay and a pungent, musky odor fill the air.

  • Ragnar’s Wrath – The icy winds of Niflheim howl as you approach a charred Viking longhouse, its stench of death a prelude to the horrors within.

  • Tree Lot Massacre – The once-festive Evergreen Acres Christmas Tree Farm hides a dark secret. Whispers tell of a Christmas Eve massacre, where disgruntled farmhand Silas Evergreen sought revenge.

Live shows at the Tampa park include the death-defying acts and stunts from Cirque X-Scream at the Stanleyville Theater, a fiery journey into Hell in The Reckoning at Dragon Fire Grill, and Scare-e-oke at Gwazi Plaza.

The event takes place at both parks on select dates September 6 through November 2 in Tampa and November 3 in Williamsburg. Tickets are on sale for Williamsburg here and for Tampa here.
