[Interview] Samantha Scaffidi Talks ‘Terrifier’ Films, a Decade with Art the Clown, and More

Terrifier 3 is the horror story of the year, defying all the odds to become the number one movie in the country on its opening weekend, knocking the original killer clown Joker out of the top spot, and we sat down with Samantha Scaffidi, the only person other than Art the Clown actor David Howard Thornton to appear in all three films, to get her perspective on what has been a decade-long ride for her, watching the franchise ascend to new heights even as we speak, seeing the characters become icons, and much more.

In a candid video conversation last week, we talked to Scaffidi about the rise of Art the Clown, the absolute tragedy of the story of Victoria Heyes and when exactly she is no longer inside her former body, and what was going through her mind while filming what may be Terrifier 3‘s most disturbing scene (the one involving a shard of glass).

Of course we also discussed celebrating Halloween, and witnessing Art become a new go-to costume for horror fans to the point where he has his own section at Spirit Halloween this year, with no end in sight.

In the new film, after surviving Art the Clown’s Halloween massacre, Sienna and her brother are struggling to rebuild their shattered lives. As the holiday season approaches, they try to embrace the Christmas spirit and leave the horrors of the past behind. But just when they think they’re safe, Art the Clown returns, determined to turn their holiday cheer into a new nightmare. The festive season quickly unravels as Art unleashes his twisted brand of terror, proving that no holiday is safe.

Terrifier 3 is currently playing in theaters nationwide.
