[Interview] ‘Treasure Trackers’ Directors and Composer Talk Family Halloween Movie

A brand new family friendly Halloween movie, Treasure Trackers was released this week on VOD, a feel good adventure that is full of fantasy and nostalgia reminiscent of Amblin classics like The Goonies, and we talked to directors and brothers Drew Garcia and Nate Garcia, as well as composer Robin Hoffmann about the creating a film they hope will become part of viewers’ annual Halloween traditions, like Halloweentown and Hocus Pocus have become, and working on Hoffmann’s epic score before shooting even began.

Treasure Trackers follows California surfer Leah, played by Charity Rose, who must relocate to the small town of Carterville, where she bands together fellow misfits Marshy (Sean Jay) and Tessa (Amelia Salazar) to track down the town’s mythic treasure. When the trio uncovers the truth behind the treasure’s Halloween curse, they must outsmart the high school troublemakers before an evil spirit is accidentally released.

When Leah learns the folklore surrounding the small town’s founders, she soon learns that hidden the gold bars are cursed by the town’s local “Raven Witch”, and it now possesses the trapped soul of the evil town founder, Silas Carter. Whoever finds the gold risks releasing Silas’ wicked spirit on the world, and the local bully and his high school friends are also on the hunt.

In our video conversation last month, we also talked about Halloween itself, their favorite traditions of the holiday, and more.

Treasure Trackers is available to stream now on Digital platforms.
