‘Trick or Treat’ Rocks onto 4K in March
Sammi Curr lives! Raise your horns and crank up the volume, because the 1986 heavy metal-fueled Halloween-infused horror classic Trick or Treat is finally getting its long overdue 4K release this March.
Directed by Charles Martin Smith (Air Bud, Dolphin Tale) and starring Marc Price (Family Ties), Tony Fields, Gene Simmons of KISS fame, and metal legend Ozzy Osbourne, Trick Or Treat tells the story of a high school outcast named Eddie Weinbauer, who is obsessed with heavy metal music and his favorite rockstar, Sammi Curr. When Sammi dies in a hotel fire, Eddie discovers a mysterious unreleased record that Sammi made before his death. As Eddie plays the record backwards, he unwittingly unleashes the vengeful spirit of Sammi, who returns from the dead to wreak havoc on the town and its inhabitants.
This re-release of Trick Or Treat has been restored in 4K from the original 35mm camera negative, mastered in Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible), and approved by director of photography Robert Elswit.
Special features on 4K UHD and Blu-ray include an audio commentary with director Charles Martin Smith, audio interviews with writer/producer Michael S. Murphey and writer Rhet Topham, “The Making of “Trick or Treat,” a Tribute to Tony Fields, “Horror’s Hallowed Grounds: The Filming Locations of Trick or Treat with Sean Clark,” the “After Midnight” music video, a still gallery, a vintage electronic press kit, and theatrical trailers, TV spots, and radio spots. The 4K UHD and Blu-ray also include a limited-edition slipcover.
Trick or Treat will be unleashed on 4K UHD (pre-order via Amazon here), as well as on Blu-ray and DVD on March 11, from Red Shirt Pictures and Synapse Films.
