[Interview] Dean Norris Talks Horror Comedy ‘The Parenting’

The new horror comedy The Parenting premieres on Max this week, featuring an all star cast stuck in a haunted house with a demon, including Dean Norris (Breaking Bad, Under the Dome), who talked to HDN recently about how getting to flex his comedic muscles is what drew him to the project.

Norris plays “Cliff”, husband of Lisa Kudrow’s character, and father of one half of the couple at the center of the film.

During a virtual roundtable with other journalists last week, we of course also asked if Norris has ever experienced anything supernatural or unexplainable in his real life.

The Max Original film follows young couple Rohan and Josh as they plan a perfect weekend getaway in the country to introduce their parents.  As tensions begin to flare between the more traditional Sharon and Frank and the laid-back Liddy and Cliff, the families soon realize that their rental – managed by eccentric local Brenda – is haunted by the presence of a 400-year-old poltergeist. When one parent becomes thoroughly possessed, it’s up to the young couple and their meddlesome BFF Sara to unite the families and stop the evil entity once and for all.

Starring Nik Dodani, Brandon Flynn, Brian Cox (Trick ‘r Treat), Edie Falco, Lisa Kudrow, Dean Norris (Breaking Bad, Under the Dome), Parker Posey, and Vivian Bang, the movie is directed by Craig Johnson and written by Kent Sublette.

The Parenting premieres on Max this Thursday, March 13.
