[Interview] Stephen Cognetti Talks ‘825 Forest Road’, a Decade of ‘Hell House’, and Halloween

Hell House LLC creator Stephen Cognetti has a new horror movie premiering on Shudder this week, and we talked the busy writer and director about his latest feature, 825 Forest Road, and reflected on a decade of Hell House movies, previewing this year’s upcoming final installment.

In a fun video conversation earlier this week, we also of course talked about Halloween and what the holiday means to Cognetti, while he remarked on how much he loved our Hallow-flavored background.

Written and directed by Stephen Cognetti, 825 Forest Road is centered on Chuck Wilson who is starting a new life after a family tragedy when he moves to the town of Ashland Falls with his wife Maria and little sister Elizabeth. But he quickly discovers that the town has a dark secret. The ghost of Helen Foster has terrorized residents for decades, since her own suicide back in the ‘40s. Finding Helen’s old home is key to ending the hauntings, but the address they have doesn’t match any of the town’s existing streets. When Chuck realizes his family might be in danger of Helen’s wrath, he takes it upon himself to locate 825 Forest Road before it’s too late.

825 Forest Road premieres on Shudder this Friday, April 4. Cognetti’s next feature, Hell House LLC: Lineage, is coming later this year.
