[Interview] Colby Minifie, Kate Burton, and Julia Max Talk ‘The Surrender’ and Halloween
The new horror movie The Surrender premieres on Shudder this week, and we recently talked to the film’s writer and director Julia Max about what inspired her story of a grieving mother and daughter who attempt to resurrect a loved one, and to Colby Minifie (The Boys) and Kate Burton (Big Trouble in Little China, Grey’s Anatomy) about what drew them to their roles, and more.
In our video conversation earlier this month, we also of course talked about celebrating Halloween, and what the holiday means to each of them.
In the film, a fraught mother-daughter relationship is put to a terrifying test when the family patriarch dies, and the grieving mother hires a mysterious stranger to bring her husband back from the dead. As the bizarre and brutal resurrection spirals out of control, both women must confront their differences as they fight for their lives – and for each other.
The Surrender premieres on Shudder this Friday, May 23.
