[Interview] Jai Courtney Talks ‘Dangerous Animals’ and Halloween Pranks

The shark movie event of the summer, Dangerous Animals swims into theaters this week, and we talked to Jai Courtney recently about his approach to playing the unhinged serial killer with major shark kink Tucker, facing off against Hassie Harrison‘s surfer Zephyr, and more.

In a our video conversation last month, we also of course talked about celebrating Halloween, as Courtney recalls playing Halloween pranks on nights when it wasn’t even Halloween. “It’s a good time of year,” he said. “Any excuse to to put a mask on and scare the shit of people is a good one for me.”

In the film, trapped on a killer’s boat with hungry sharks circling below, a surfer must outwit a predator more dangerous than the ocean itself—will she escape, or become the next offering to the deep?

Directed by Sean Byrne (The Devil’s Candy), Hassie Harrison (Yellowstone, Tacoma FD) and Jai Courtney (The Suicide Squad, Terminator: Genisys) lead the cast, along with Josh Heuston.

Dangerous Animals opens in theaters this Friday, June 6.
