[Interview] Helloween’s Michael Weikath on New Album, Naming the Band, and Silver Shamrock
Power metal legends Helloween are back with a blistering new album absolutely blazing with all the epic riffs and lightening solos, thundering double base, and anthemic vocals they have become synonymous with over four decades as pioneers of the genre, and after being supplied with an advance listen, we were beyond excited and honored to talk to guitarist, songwriter, and one of the iconic band’s founding members Michael Weikath about Giants & Monsters, plus naming the band, the Halloween III Silver Shamrock connection, and more.
In a our video conversation earlier this month, we discussed the inspiration behind the two tracks that Michael wrote for the new album, “Savior of the World” and “Under the Moonlight,” how the songwriting process has evolved since the band began in 1984 to the current seven-member Pumpkins United lineup, if this is the best time to be a Helloween fan, and more.
The band’s latest album, Giants & Monsters, will be released on August 29, and the new single, “Universe (Gravity of Hearts)”, dropped today.
