[Interview] Helloween’s Sascha Gerstner Talks ‘Giants & Monsters’ and Halloween
Power metal legends Helloween are back with a blistering new album absolutely blazing with all the epic riffs and lightening solos, thundering double base, and anthemic vocals they have become synonymous with over four decades as innovators of the genre, and after being supplied with an advance listen, we could not be more excited to talk to guitarist and one of the iconic band’s current seven members/songwriters Sascha Gerstner about Giants & Monsters, if this is the best time to be a fan, and more.
In a our video conversation earlier this month, we discussed Sascha’s first time ever hearing the original lineup of Helloween, before he joined the band in 2002, and we took a deep dive into the two tracks he wrote for the new album, “Universe (Gravity of Hearts)” and “Hand of God.”
We also of course talked about Halloween itself, as Gerstner reveals that his first exposure to the holiday when growing up in Germany was through Hollywood movies, and much more.
The band’s latest album, Giants & Monsters, will be released on August 29, and the next single, “Universe (Gravity of Hearts)”, written by Gerstner, drops this Friday, July 25.
