‘Whistle’ Coming 2026, Teaser Confirms Halloween Setting

Director Corin Hardy’s (The Nun) next horror movie, Whistle was recently acquired for distribution by Independent Film Company and Shudder, and the official teaser trailer has just dropped, previewing the terrors that blowing an ancient Aztec Death Whistle will bring, and confirming that the film takes place during Halloween season.

Independent Film Company and Shudder have acquired U.S. rights to Whistle, the new horror film from The Nun director Corin Hardy, starring Dafne Keen (Logan, The Acolyte), Sophie Nélisse (Yellowjackets), Sky Yang (Rebel Moon), Percy Hynes White (My Old Ass), and Nick Frost (Sean of the Dead, Get Away).

Owen Egerton, who wrote and directed the criminally underseen and absolutely excellent 2018 Halloween horror movie Blood Fest, adapted the screenplay for Whistle from his own short story.

In the film, a misfit group of unwitting high school students stumble upon a cursed object, an ancient Aztec Death Whistle. Soon, they discover that blowing the whistle and the terrifying sound it emits will summon their future deaths to hunt them down. As the body count rises, the friends investigate the origins of the deadly artifact in a desperate effort to stop the horrifying chain of events that they have set in motion.

When the film wrapped shooting last year, Hardy posted some set photos on Instagram, including one featuring a massive jack o’ lantern in the background (see it below), suggesting a Halloween setting, and now the teaser gives us a quick shot of Nélisse’s character dressed in a devil costume with lots of lit jack o’ lanterns burning behind her, confirming that at least some of the film takes place around Halloween.

Watch the trailer and check out the Halloween still below.

Whistle will be released wide in theaters in 2026.
