Watch Taylor Momsen Become a Bat in The Pretty Reckless “For I Am Death” Video

The Pretty Reckless just dropped their first new music in four years, debuting the new song “For I Am Death” and an accompanying horror-influenced official music video.

The single drop was preceded by eerie teaser videos shared on the band’s social media accounts all week leading up to the track release at midnight Friday morning.

The new video first includes a prelude called “Life Evermore Pt. 2” that sees frontwoman Taylor Momsen singing into a mirror before walking away, only to have her reflection remain staring ominously back out from the mirror.

Black and white footage of the band playing the new single “For I Am Death” is then intercut with flashes of Momsen covered in black slime, eventually growing giant bat wings, which is a brilliant reference of the viral moment in 2024 when a bat landed on Momsen’s leg and bit her while she was performing the song “Witches Burn” on stage. Now, like any vampire, the bitten as become the bat, and it is all shot with clear horror-inspired creature transformation influences.

Today’s single and video drop, from the lyrics and tone to the imagery and aesthetic, hints at the future of The Pretty Reckless, as the band’s social media posts today conclude with the promise, “Let the new era begin…☠️☠️☠️🦇🦇🦇 “.
