One of the oldest and biggest independent Halloween haunts on the east coast, Woods of Terror in Greensboro, North Carolina opens for the 2025 season in a few weeks, but Halloween Daily News was invited to an early behind the scenes preview at a recent media event.

First opening in 1991, Woods of Terror features a massive, one-hour walkthrough featuring more than a dozen different themed areas ranging from movie slashers to witches, undead pirates, and so much more. Guests first encounter the Monster Midway, with games, food and beverages, tons of killer photo ops, and then, after dark, live music by Crypt Kicker and a Monster Parade of all 137 of the scare actors to kickoff the opening of the haunt show.

Calling it impressive just does not do this attraction justice, as it is truly amazing, absolutely immersive, and unbelievably expansive. The amount of detail on the sets that we were able to view during the daylight tour is stunning.

This is one of the ultimate haunt experiences in the country, a most highly recommended can’t-miss for enthusiasts.

Woods of Terror officially opens on September 13, running Saturdays in September and every weekend in October through November 2. You can buy tickets here.
