‘The Boy From Below’ Trailer Previews Indie Halloween Slasher
A new independent Halloween slasher movie, The Boy From Below has just revealed an official trailer, previewing the retro 1990s vibes we can expect.
Here’s the new official synopsis for the film: As Halloween descends upon the sleepy town of Carpenter Falls, a group of horror movie nerds plan for their annual scary movie marathon. But when a mythic figure from the town’s jaded past returns, Quinn Curtis and her friends find themselves in the center of a real life scary movie.
The cast for The Boy from Below includes Dee Wallace (E.T., Cujo, Halloween), Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp, Terrifier 2), Leah Voysey (Terrifier 2), Chaney Morrow (Haunt), Richie Ramone of The Ramones, and, most recently announced on Jan. 5, Tommy Lee Wallace (Halloween, Halloween III), Spooky Madison (Phantom Fun-World), and Jack Norman (The Funhouse Massacre).
Tory Jones (The Wicked One, Phantom Fun-World) directs from a script he co-wrote with Jerron Spencer (Phantom Fun-World). The project is described as a “reimagining” of Jones’ 2017 independent film The Wicked One.
Cody Ruch (“The Mill,” CarousHell) handled the practical special effects.
Commenting on the 1990s Halloween setting of the film, writer and director Tory Jones previously told HDN exclusively, “Halloween season and the legends and folklore around it definitely have such a special place in my heart as a creative. The lights, decorations, pumpkins, and the colors all are heavily featured throughout The Boy from Below. We want our locations and season in the film to feel authentic and visually Halloween is everywhere within our film. Our production design will feel very much like the Halloween seasons I grew up with in the early ’90’s. Kids were everywhere, the entire town seemed to participate, and the atmosphere was to be experienced. That’s the Halloween I want for this film.”
The Boy from Below will premiere this Friday, September 5, at the Greendale Cinema in Greendale, IN.
