[Interview] Rob York Talks ‘Curse of Crom 2’, Samhain Inspiration, and Halloween Love
A fun follow-up to the 2022 Halloween horror adventure movie Curse of Crom: The Legend of Halloween, the upcoming sequel Curse of Crom 2 is about screen at our Halloween International Film Festival, and we caught up with director and co-writer Rob York recently to dig into the real Samhain history and the actual Irish god Crom Cruach that inspired his films, delivering as much heart as horror, and never skimping on the Halloween atmosphere.
In our video conversation earlier this week, we also of course talked about Halloween itself, as Rob reveals his earliest childhood memory is of trick or treaters celebrating Halloween on a military base where his dad was stationed overseas, and much more.
In the film: An ancient Irish entity abducts Mary Eldritch, and her step-dad Greg is forced to team up with the one person that may be able to sae his adopted daughter: her deadbeat boyfriend Harvey. As hundreds of slimy monsters run amok, Greg and Harvey have to learn to work together as a monster fighting team before it’s too late for everyone.
Directed by Rob York, written by York and Scott Baird, the new film reunites Colin Cunningham (He Never Left), Tanner Gillman, Monica Moore Smith, Halem Medina, and Arianna Bagley, reprising their roles from the first Crom, along with Ryann Bailey, taking over the role of Mary.
Curse of Crom 2 will have its North Carolina Premiere at the Halloween International Film Festival on the Outer Banks, NC, screening on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 4:00 p.m. Tickets are available online here.
