‘Halloween’ Video Game Single Player Mode Previewed in New Video

Michael Myers is coming to your home to stalk your consoles in 2026 in the upcoming Halloween video game, and developers have just given us all a Halloween Day treat, releasing a new one-minute video previewing new details about the game’s single player mode, including that it begins with Michael incarcerated at Smith’s Grove sanitarium and will recreate many other iconic locations from the original 1978 film.

What actually happened a Phelps Garage? This and many other questions left open in John Carpenter’s Halloween will be explored in the video game.

While the game includes the multiplayer-driven fundamentals remain critical to the design philosophies of Illfonic, “Halloween marks a confident venture into the realm of more traditional singleplayer story content.”

The game’s official site details: “Players take the role of Michael Myers and experience the critical moments of the Night He Came Home from an entirely different perspective… The team aims to provide supplemental story content that compliments the original John Carpenter classic. In addition to reliving unforgettable film moments with familiar faces, the singleplayer story mode in Halloween will also feature new locations and scenes introducing our brand new cast of Haddonfield civilians, who serve as playable characters in the game’s multiplayer component… These reimagined Halloween story sequences are told through a series of defined singleplayer chapters with captivating in-engine cinematics and gripping narration provided by Dr. Samuel J. Loomis.”

The singleplayer story mode will feature several difficulties, optional objectives, secret collectibles, and even multiple endings that are determined by the actions players take “throughout their homecoming to Haddonfield.”

As developers have previously stated, the singleplayer story component of the game is actually designed to be played first, to help prepare players to become the “ultimate Michael Myers” before they jump into online multiplayer matches.

Players will be able to become The Shape in the game, with a unique  stalking “Shape Jump” ability that allows Michael Myers to vanish and reappear, as he does in the movies.

You can also opt to play as a new “civilian hero” character trying to save Haddonfield residents from The Bogeyman.

In the highly anticipated video game, Michael Myers will once again be played by the original Shape actor Nick Castle, as well as actor and stuntman T.J. Storm, working together performing the motion capture to bring The Shape to life.

With Malek Akkad producing and John Carpenter as executive producer, Halloween will be published by IllFonic, co-published by Gun Interactive, in partnership with Compass International Pictures and Further Front, coming to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam and Epic Game Stores.

Halloween will be released on September 8, 2026.
