[Interview] Moneca Delain Talks ‘Trick ‘r Treat’, Rise of Sam, and Halloween

The modern masterpiece Trick ‘r Treat has quickly become an annual tradition for many horror fans and Halloween enthusiasts, and we talked to Moneca Delain recently about her memories of playing Janet in the anthology film, witnessing the rise of Sam merchandise, and being a part of a legacy that will certainly only grow with each new generation, and her thoughts on the inevitable sequel and what her character could be up to now.

In our exclusive video conversation last week, we also of course talked Halloween, what it all means to Moneca today, and more.

Written and directed by Michael Dougherty (Godzilla vs. Kong, Godzilla: King of the Monsters), Trick ‘r Treat weaves sinister stories set on the same Halloween Night in the same town: a high school principal moonlights as a killer; a kids’ prank has grave consequences; a young virgin’s search for the right man turns horrific; Emma and her husband learn the cost of ignoring Halloween rituals (aka not following the rules); and a cantankerous old man faces Sam in a terrifying showdown.

Moneca’s character Janet is part of the “Surprise Party” storyline, in which she costars with Anna Paquin as Laurie, Rochelle Aytes as Maria, and Lauren Lee Smith as Danielle, all of whom are hiding something vicious under the skin.
