[Interview] Beyond the Black’s Jennifer Haben Talks ‘Break the Silence’ and Halloween
Beyond the Black has just released their sixth album today, and we talked to the German metal band’s dynamic and visionary singer/songwriter/founder Jennifer Haben a few days ago about the timely themes of Break The Silence, her musical inspirations, her dream collaborator, and more in our exclusive new interview.
The new album is definitely the band’s most diverse yet, featuring multiple languages and more ethnic flavor than ever before, but it absolutely still delivers all that Beyond the Black fans have come to love, with Haben’s voice soaring above massive guitar riffs, epic sing-along choruses, and messages of hope for the broken lost in a fading world.
In a our video conversation earlier this week, we also talked about creating the interconnected dystopian music videos and the overall story narrative that plays out in them and throughout the album, with relevant themes of isolation and finding your voice through all the noise.
We also of course talked Halloween, and how it is celebrated in Germany, as Haben reveals that both of her parents’ birthdays are in October, so her family goes all in on Halloween.
Beyond the Black’s new album Break the Silence is out today.
