Halloween Daily News’ Favorite Halloween Movies of 2025
As a new year dawns, we are taking a look back at some of our favorite Halloween movies that were released in 2025, and the conversations we had with many of the people who worked on them, before looking ahead to what promises to be an exciting 2026.
The films on this list don’t just lend themselves well to be viewed during the Halloween season, but more specifically, they all actually take place entirely or at least partly on or around Halloween.
Haunted House of Pancakes– On Halloween Night, a demonic possession takes over a diner, transforming the food into bloodthirsty creatures out for revenge. Trapped inside the nightmarish diner, a waiter and college student fight back. Will they escape the clutches of the Haunted House of Pancakes—or fall victim to the food apocalypse? An Official Selection at the 2025 Halloween International Film Festival, full of humor, heart, and wild practical creature fun, it is streaming now on Tubi.
The Jester 2 – On Halloween Night, teen magician Max finds herself locked in a brutal showdown with the Jester, a nightmarish and supernatural trickster with real dark magic and a killer act. As illusions turn lethal and every escape is a trap, Max must pull off the ultimate trick: staying alive. On this deadly night, the only escape… is to beat the devil at its own game. Night of the Reaper– In the heart of a quiet, 1980s suburb, college student Deena, played by Jessica Clement (Gen V), returns home and reluctantly takes on a last-minute babysitting job. That same Halloween Night, the local sheriff receives a cryptic package that pulls him into a sinister scavenger hunt that sets off a game of cat and mouse with a dangerous killer. As the clues unravel, Deena finds herself ensnared in a nightmarish mystery that she may not survive. It is streaming now on Shudder. V/H/S Halloween – A collection of Halloween-themed videotapes unleashes a series of twisted, blood-soaked tales, turning trick-or-treat into a struggle for survival. A must see anthology of Halloween horror, bubbling over with atmosphere, gore, and international flavor, the “Home Haunt” segment alone would make this list. It is streaming now on Shudder. Just Stay In is a short film filled with Halloween atmosphere and cool Easter eggs for horror fans, with a wicked twist, and it took home the Best Halloween Film award at our Halloween International Film Festival in October. Written and directed by Noah JÂ Welter, it is available to watch online for free below.
Honorable mentions go to the slasher Die’ced: Reloaded, the family friendly R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead, and Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which has only a few minutes set on Halloween, but they are some of the most pivotal moments to the plot, as The Silver Surfer arrives in Times Square amid costumed revelers, including some kids dressed as The Thing.
There are more 2025 Halloween movies that we have not yet viewed, like Self-Help and Hallow Road, which received limited releases but will get wider release in the coming year.
