[Interview] ‘This Is Not a Test’ Director Adam MacDonald Talks Zombies, and Halloween
A mashup of The Breakfast Club, It’s a Wonderful Life, and Dawn of the Dead, the new horror movie This Is Not a Test hits theaters this week, and we talked to writer and director Adam MacDonald about what drew him to take a bite out of the unkillable zombie subgenre, balancing horror action with serious emotional themes, fast versus lumbering undead, and more.
In our video conversation earlier this month, we also of course talked about Halloween, what it means to MacDonald, and his favorite costume and candy.
In This Is Not a Test: “Sloane and a small group of her classmates take cover in their high school to escape their suddenly apocalyptic hometown. As danger relentlessly pounds on the doors, Sloane begins to see the world through the eyes of people who actually want to live and takes matters into her own hands.”
Written and directed by Adam MacDonald, the film stars Olivia Holt (Totally Killer, Heart Eyes), Froy Gutierrez (Hocus Pocus 2), Luke MacFarlane, Corteon Moore, Carson MacCormac, and Chloe Avakian.
This Is Not a Test arrives in theaters this Friday, February 20.
