[Interview] ‘The Morrigan’ Director Colum Eastwood on Folk Horror and Halloween in Ireland

The new Irish folk horror film The Morrigan is out now, and we talked to writer and director Colum Eastwood recently about the real mythology that inspired his film, the genre inspirations he embraced, and more.

In our video conversation earlier this week, we also of course discussed celebrating Halloween in Ireland, and Eastwood’s favorite costume and treat.

In The Morrigan: “An archaeologist travels to Ireland to uncover a long-dead tomb. A threat is released and she will have to fight to keep her teenage daughter from falling under the control of The Morrigan, a vengeful Pagan War Goddess.”

Written and directed by Colum Eastwood, the film stars Saffron Burrows (You, Deep Blue Sea), Toby Stephens (Die Another Day, Black Sails), James Cosmo (Braveheart, Troy), and Emily Flain.

The Morrigan is now available on Digital, from Cineverse.
