‘Hunting Matthew Nichols’ Found Footage Trailer Goes Back to Halloween 2001
A brand new found footage horror movie with plot elements tied to Halloween, Hunting Matthew Nichols is coming to theaters in April, and the final trailer previews a mystery from 2001.
The official synopsis: “On Halloween 2001, Matthew Nichols and Jordan Reimer went into the forests of northern Vancouver Island near Port Rupert with a VHS camcorder — and vanished without a trace. Their camera was later recovered, but the boys were never found. For two decades, the community and family has been left with the question… Where did they go? Now, two decades later, Matthew’s sister, Tara, is looking for answers. She hired a film crew to document her journey.”
Described as “a found-footage mystery built around an immersive scavenger-hunt narrative,” the film marks the feature directorial debut of Markian Tarasiuk, who also stars in the film, along with Miranda MacDougall and Ryan Alexander McDonald.
Hunting Matthew Nichols will be released in select theaters on April 10.
