[Interview] Mena Suvari and India Eisley Talk ‘Vampires of the Velvet Lounge’ and Halloween
The wild horror action comedy Vampires of the Velvet Lounge sinks its fangs into theaters this week, and we talked to Mena Suvari recently about taking on what she calls her favorite role ever, the legendary Countess Elizabeth Bathory, and to India Eisley about drinking blood again, 14 years after her unforgettable debut as the vampire-lycan hybrid Eve in Underworld: Awakening.
In our video conversation last month, we also of course talked about Halloween and what it means to them both.
In the film: “Deep in the American South, a back alley absinthe bar harbors a deadly secret: Countess Elizabeth Báthory and her glamorous coven of vampires keep their killer instincts sharp by preying on lonely singles through dating apps, seducing and slaughtering to preserve their youth. But when Elizabeth swipes right on the wrong profiles—a cunning undercover vampire hunter and a band of emotionally stunted bros—the hunt spirals into hilariously horrifying chaos. Blood flies, fangs pierce flesh, and the bar erupts into a glitter-soaked, green fairy-winged, fang-filled fever dream of grindhouse gore, terrible decisions, and fashionably fatal carnage.”
Mena Suvari stars as Elizabeth Báthory, along with Dichen Lachman (Severence, Dollhouse), Stephen Dorff (Blade), India Eisley (Underworld: Awakening), Tom Berenger, Rosa Salazar, and Tyrese Gibson.
The film is written, directed, and produced by Adam Sherman (Wristcutters: A Love Story, Happiness Runs, Crazy Eyes).
Vampires of the Velvet Lounge bites into select theaters this Friday, March 20.
